AFTERNOON TEA SANDWICH

 

If you're traveling in the UK, there's one thing you cannot miss: The British Afternoon Tea. Afternoon Tea is a ritual that was established in Britain around 1840, and normally includes three courses served in the late afternoon. The first course consists of sandwiches, followed by scones with clotted cream and jam, and the third course is usually biscuits or cakes.




Sandwich with cucumber and cream cheese


Ingredients

  • 100g cream cheese
  • A handful of fresh mint
  • 3-4 slices of white bread
  • ½ cucumber

Preparation

Mix cream cheese with mint, salt and pepper if desired. Spread on the bread. Cut the cucumber into thin slices and place on top of the cream cheese. Fold up and cut into small rectangular pieces. If you like, you can also cut off the edge of the bread.


Sandwiches with salmon and cream cheese


Ingredients

  • 100 Cream Cheese
  • Salmon
  • A handful of dill
  • 3-4 slices of white bread

Preparation

Mix the cream cheese with dill, spread on the bread and place salmon on top. Place one on top of the other and cut into rectangular sandwiches.


Sandwiches with egg and cress


Ingredients

  • 3 hard-boiled eggs (peeled and cut into large pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1-2 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 3-4 slices of white bread
  • Cress

Preparation

Mix the eggs, mayonnaise and mustard in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Spread on the white bread and decorate with cress. Fold up and cut into rectangular sandwiches.
